Professional Standards oversees public compliments and complaints related to the conduct of HRPS members and the policies or services of the police service

Compliments

• accepts positive feedback about HRPS members by email at profstd@haltonpolice.ca 

Complaints About Officer Conduct

• concerns may be resolved by speaking with a supervisor at any HRPS station
• formal complaints may be filed directly with Professional Standards or with the Law Enforcement Complaints Agency (LECA), Ontario’s independent oversight body that manages police conduct complaints

Complaints About HRPS Policies or Services

• all complaints regarding police service policies or services are investigated by the Inspector General of Policing
• complainants must contact the Inspector General directly to file these complaints

• conduct concerns may be discussed with an on‑duty supervisor at any HRPS station
• formal conduct complaints submitted to Professional Standards or to LECA
