During a municipal election, Town of Oakville citizens elect officials to the offices of Mayor, Town Councillors, Regional and Town Councillors, Regional Chair and various school board trustees for a four year term

  • make sure you're registered to vote for municipal and provincial elections at this website
  • All eligible voters are encouraged to take advantage of the advance voting opportunities which will be from Oct 7-10 and from Oct 13-18, 2026 (Locations yet to be confirmed)
  • All voting locations will be accessible and election officials have been trained to provide accessible customer service
  • The first day to file nomination papers to run as a candidate for the 2026 municipal election is May 1, 2026

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years old

  • not prohibited from voting by law
