Halton Region Basement Flooding Prevention Subsidy Program makes it easier and more affordable for residents to undertake home improvements that can help reduce the risk of basement flooding and keep rain/storm water out of the wastewater system.

There are five subsidies available:

• Downspout Disconnection: 100% of costs incurred for materials and invoiced contractor labour charged to disconnect downspouts, up to a maximum of $900.
• Weeping tile disconnection with sump pump installation: 100% of costs incurred for materials and labour charged to disconnect weeping tile and install a sump pump:up to a maximum of $6,500.
• Exterior Storm Drain Disconnection: 100% of costs incurred for materials and labour charged to disconnect the exterior storm drain, up to a maximum of $6,500.
• Backwater Valve Installation:  50% of costs incurred for materials and labour charged to install a backwater valve, up to a maximum of $1600.
• Wastewater Lateral (pipe) lining or repair: 50% of costs incurred for materials and labour charged to repair the wastewater lateral (underground wastewater system/pipe), up to a maximum of $4,000.

Apply to a program:

1. Download the application and the waiver forms from the website
2. Follow the additional steps and requirements pertinent to each subsidy offered
3. Submit a completed application and waiver form, along with the required documentation outlined on the application form, using one of the methods listed below

Residents are encouraged to send applications by email or by mail:

• Scan and email to basementfloodingsubsidy@halton.ca
• Upload larger files, such as CCTV video, to the online Dropbox platform OR
