Position: Bingo Support 

 

Objective: To help the Centre for Diverse Learners earn revenue through supporting our bingo nights. Bingo is one of the many ways we raise necessary funds for our programs. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Arrive 30 minutes before the beginning of Bingo activities. 

  • Attend two bingo sessions as training. 

  • Count the number of Bingo cards and record the number of cards on the sheets provided at the beginning and end of each bingo night. 

  • Sell bingo tickets to patrons and make change. 

  • Cash out at the end of each shift (count the money left in the float). 

  • Fill out all necessary paperwork required by the bingo hall. 

 

Skills Required: 

  • Ability to count money and make change quickly. 

  • Ability to work with the public. 

  • Knowledge of bingo and bingo operations. 

  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently. 

 

Commitment: 

  • Four hours every other week. 

 

Location: 

  • Oakville Delta Gaming Centre Association, 483 Speers Road, Oakville.

Role Overview: As a one to one buddy and companionship volunteer with CLO, you will have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role is centered around building meaningful connections and friendships while providing support through friendly visiting and engaging activities. Our program offers people with developmental disabilities to participate in experiences that most of us take for granted. Your companionship will help foster social inclusion and enhance the quality of life of people we support, their family, and CLO to ensure a positive and safe experience. 

Responsibilities:

·        Spend quality 1:1 time with a  person supported

·        Engage in various activities based on mutual interest, including but not limited to:

·        Reading a book together

·        Playing a game

·        Sharing a coffee or meal

·        Going to the gym for a workout

·        Attending a church service

·        Shopping

·        Theatre or a movie

·        Attending sports games or events

·        Foster a friendly and supportive environment to encourage social interaction

·        Be a dependable and trustworthy presence in someone’s life

·        Maintain open communication with the person supported, their family, and CLO to ensure a positive and safe experience

Visits are currently socially distanced, outside. Location of clients vary by community.
  • Interact professionally in accordance with Links2Care Code of Conduct and Human Rights Act.
    • Maintain complete confidentiality of client information in accordance with Links2Care 
    confidentiality/privacy policy.
    • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
    • Visit or call client on a consistent, weekly basis.
    • Engage in friendly conversation and leisure activities that both parties enjoy, such as playing 
    cards or sharing a hobby as per client interests, in order to develop a respectful, friendly, caring 
    relationship.
    • Maintain contact with the Coordinator, informing them of any concerns and receiving 
    instructions to meet client and Links2Care goals.
    • Maintain communication with the client in the event of any schedule changes.
    • Complete and submit a monthly volunteer time record.
    • Maintain calmness in emergencies, with an ability to assist in a crisis.
    • Participate in annual volunteer survey.
    • Perform other duties as assigned. 

    Time Commitment of 1-2 hours per week. 

     
    Currently looking for English, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, German speaking men and women in Halton. Other languages as needed.

Special Needs Baseball 
Softball specially designed for teens and adults with special needs. The focus is on participation and getting active, no experience is necessary. Volunteers will assist staff in facilitating the games, engaging and encouraging participants. Participants vary in age from youth to adult. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

Soccer specially designed for teens and adults with special needs. The focus is on participation and getting active. Volunteers will assist staff in facilitating the games, engaging and encouraging participants. Participants vary in age from youth to adult. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
