Programs that maintain information about vulnerable people in the community in the event they go missing or in case of incidents or situations requiring police interactions. Caregivers and individuals themselves can register and provide detailed information to ensure the vulnerable person receives appropriate care and attention during the interaction, such as recommended methods of communication and de-escalation techniques, a detailed physical description, particular sensitivities or fascinations they may experience, and contact information. Registries are voluntary and open to individuals with a medical, mental health, or physical condition, or who may exhibit patterns of behaviour that may pose a danger to themselves, including people with Alzheimer's disease or a brain injury, autistic people, people who have difficulties with verbal communication, or who may respond with fear or aggression, or run away in social situations.
