Description (Service)

Independent law office in the Ministry of the Attorney General that delivers justice programs on behalf of children

Represents the interests of a child under the age of 18 in matters and court cases in Ontario involving:

  • parenting time, contact and decision-making responsibility for children (custody/access)
  • child protection
  • civil cases (such as personal injury, motor vehicle accidents and medical malpractices)
  • estates and trusts
  • requests for minors' funds

Personal Rights: legal representation of children in custody/access matters

  • legal representation of children and minor parents in child protection proceedings and Consent to Adoption matters
  • preparation of reports to the court in custody/access applications

Property Rights: represents the child's interest in estate or trust matters, and civil cases

  • provides representation for the child when there is no adult willing or able to do so
