Description (Service)

A program administered by Halton Women's Place to protect pets from violence

  • if a woman is seeking shelter and has a companion animal, the shelter will work closely with the client, local veterinarians, animal welfare agencies, pet boarding facilities and volunteers to help in keeping their pet safe

Services may include:

  • any veterinary care or vaccinations that are needed
  • safe transport out to a nearby kennel or boarding facility
  • support in facilitating visits between women/children and their pets during their stay at Halton Women's Place

The Halton Women's Place SafePet program was initially created in collaboration with the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and it is funded through collaboration with PetSmart Charities through grant support and fundraising efforts where possible
