Description (Service)

The society aims to further knowledge of horticulture, stimulating an interest in gardening in the community's youth

  • encourages the beautification of public and private properties
  • partners with Oakville's conservation groups
  • seeks to protect plant diversity in the community forest and wetland areas 

Usual events include:

  • annual garden tour - normally in mid June
  • guest speakers and indoor/and outdoor gardening demonstrations at monthly meetings 
  • flower and photography shows 
  • maintenance of community gardening projects
  • Junior Program which explores different aspects of gardening by having children grow a variety of veggies in individual family plots
Hours
  • meetings are held second Mon of each month 7:30 pm, Sep-Jun at Knox Presbyterian Church, Lakeshore Rd. W. and Dunn St.
  • Jr Gardeners program take place Tue 4:30 pm-5:30 pm starting May, Jun and Jul at Oakville Municipal Greenhouse, 1100 Cornwall Road.
