Description (Service) | The City of Burlington offers five community gardens locations with 204 plots altogether (13 raised accessible plots are available for individuals with limited mobility) * located at Amherst Park (33 plots), Central Park (55 plots), Francis Road Bikeway (23 plots), Ireland Park (42 plots) and Maple Park (51 plots) * 2m x 3.6m ground plots and 1m x 2m raised accessible plots are available at each garden location * all locations are accessible and have full sun * all locations can be accessed by Burlington Transit, walking, cycling and driving, and have lot or street parking available * water, soil, compost, a storage shed and a picnic table are provided Volunteer opportunities to help grow food for food bank donation are available through the Burlington Food Bank at Maple Park, and BurlingtonGreen at Central Park * interested people should contact these organizations directly to speak with their volunteer coordinators Donations Welcomes donations of tools in good condition, vegetable seeds and seedlings (please contact Community Garden Coordinator prior to donating) Tours Tours with learning activities for groups, schools or youth may be arranged at any location by contacting the Community Garden Coordinator |

Application | Online application form must be submitted prior to November 30 * applicants may select which garden location and plot style they prefer * all applicants will be notified if they have been assigned a plot or not by early December Note: * Maple, Central and Ireland Park locations gardeners assigned a plot do not retain their plot year over year due to the high demand (plots at these locations are assigned by lottery of all applicants) * Francis Road Bikeway and Amherst Park locations gardeners may request to retain their plot for the next season * only one plot may be assigned per household |
